Front electric window

Featured Replies

Hi,

does any one know how to get the door panel off the passengerside door. I've removed all the screws and the panel is loose but the large handle inside seems to be holding the panel on and I can't see how this is removed.

I'm trying to gain access to see why the window doesn't work, when the switch is operated there is just a horrible graitting noise as if it has grit in the window.

There is an explanation here which may help. The newly published Haynes manual for the Octavia has a more detailed explanation.

Sorry for missing that excellent guide! :o

No Problem

Thanks for all your help. Looks like i will have to be more brutal with the grab handle cover and force it off, hopefully then I will be able to remove the panel and see what is going on.

Start by prizing it off at the top, use a sharp plastic lever to minimise damage and also try to lever it in a position that is nor readily visible when it is fitted.

Forgot to add, it is very likely that a plastic part of the window regulator is broken, about £45 + VAT.

I've got it all apart, taken the mechanisum apart and the cable is all messed up and broken. I've unwound it from the mech (a bit of a mess, all coiled up round the plastic cog wheel). My question now is, is it possible to buy just the cable and how easy is it to fit the new one. It looks as if you have to fit it and wind it round the plastic grooved wheel etc.

Looking at ETKA, I think you will need to buy a complete window regulator as individual parts of it are not listed.
