1.4 TDi flywheel

Featured Replies

I have a 2009 Mk2 1.4 TDi estate.

Is there any way of finding out if this has a dual-mass flywheel (without taking the engine apart!)?

Thanks

By decoding your VIN then you can find the part fitment (but it won't tell you if someone fitted a different part, only what it left factory with)

Thanks, varoom. I'll look for a VIN decoder online.

You will have better luck posting it here, as some can decode and get you part numbers.

If you do find a working online decoder, let the forum know as it will help others.

After seeing others have used it I used this eBay seller, very fast response. -

VIN decoder that will show factory options Audi VW Seat Skoda - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/224631127243 - ETA: I was wrong, no good locking at this for DMF, thanks varooom.

ETA:

This won't tell you whether the part is a DMF or not, as VAG don't seem to worry... it's just always listed as a "Flywheel"

An online parts catalog you can drill into

https://www.lllparts.co.uk/catalogs/skoda/CZ/

https://www.lllparts.co.uk/catalogs/skoda/CZ/FAB/608/1/105/105010

As you can see in the parts catalog, there are 3 entries, the middle one with an X = eXchange part

So depending on your engine code, you have either an 045 105 269 or 045 105 269 D part fitted.

As to the question as to is it a DMF or Solid, I cannot tell you (maybe they are solid?)

VW part is a replacement SMF due to DMF premature failures, so unless yours is chattering and ticking like a knackered DMF then it's probably a SMF already and you won't need a new one.

Explains why I couldn't find it over 238 pages, VW do seem a little 'shy' about giving some information a process of "constant improvements" I expect.  😁

I'll edit my previous post.
