Fuel Savers

Featured Replies

There is a product on the market that claims to reduce fuel consumption by up to 30%.

It looks to be simply a strong magnet that clips over the fuel line to optimise the molecular structure of the fuel prior to injection.

I would be interested to know if anyone has used these and how well they work?

Not sure about those, but I have some magic oil. I'm selling it for £5 per 250ml. If you ingest it it will make you irresistable to the opposite sex, will remove any grey hairs you have and make you penis 6"s longer* Excellent stuff!

* This may or may not be true but hey, in for a penny in for a pound! :D

Get a strong magnet and tape it to your fuel line and see if makes any difference - I'd be surprised if it did. Will probably be cheaper than buying the FuelSaver though, so you won't have wasted as much money. :)

I do have a couple of strong magnets but they are bit too large for the area concerned.

However I have purchased a 'posivflow' device cheaply to give it a try. Looks easy to fit but just need to identify which fuel pipe is the inlet.

The car is a Felicia 1.6Glxi with VW AEE engine, multipoint injection (Magneto Marelli I think!).

There are two fuel pipes connected to the end of the fuel rail - one is the inlet and one is the return but they don't seem to be marked with a direction.

Does anyone know if the inlet is the one closest to the injectors or the one closest to the regulator (end of the rail)?

Haynes isn't too clear on this one although looks like it may be the side closest to the injectors.

If not I will have to trace the lines back to the fuel pump but would be great if anyone has this info.

Many thanks.

Just thought I would follow up on my original post.

As I'm sure anyone who read/ replied to this post expected, the Magnetic Fuel Saver made absolutely no difference to my fuel economy.

I need to transfer some funds out of the account of the Government of Nigeria. I only need your bank account details...

Surely fuel isn't magnetic anyway?

I've got 3 glass hammers left and a solar powered torch. Will swap for an elastic tape measure.
