Oil temperature sensor location

Featured Replies

Hi, can anyone tell me the location of the oil temperature sensor please? I've recently replaced the oil cooler only to find there was nothing visibly wrong with the old one, and I'm still getting high oil temperatures showing on my display, so reckon I should maybe replace the sensor. Which I should have done before all the hassle and expense of the cooler...

It's a mk2 170bhp superb.

Thanks in advance 👍

Usually part of the oil level/temp combined sensor in sump.

I was thinking it might be a combined one, can anyone confirm it?

Engine code or VIN?

Pete's probably 99.99% spot on with a combined sensor as this is how they usually roll.

VIN is TMBKF73T3B9031439

Engine number starts cfg

Engine code will be CFGB (I have had one before, nice engine)

Taken from the manual for the engine...

1.4 Removing and installing oil level and oil
temperature sender - G266-

Searching parts catalog for "G266"

Give us part number 04L 907 660 C for "oil level sensor"

This could also be traced back in the wiring diagrams, though I have not the time to check that right now.

Thanks for your help guys. One wee question, you quoted the manual there, does a manual exist for this car then, or is it only for dealer workshops? I could really do with one if it's available
