Changing Gear Stick Knob Only

Hi all,

I've been watching some videos online about changing gear stick knobs, although from what I can see, you have to change the whole thing, cover and all for Skodas and cant just twist the knob counter clockways and replace soley the knob like with other cars?

I'm hesitant to start twisting things that aren't meant to be twisted, is it possible to only change the knob without changing the entire cover and all?
