New Battery won’t start after crash repair where airbags were deployed

Featured Replies

I am repairing a Superb MIII which was involved in a head on collision where airbags were deployed (as a project). I have had the errors cleared and fitted a brand new battery but it won’t start. The fuses are all ok. Any advice on next steps would be appreciated

If airbags triggered, did fuel cut off also trigger

Have these been reset correctly when replaced

If I have understood your posting you want your battery to start and it wont? 🤣

Being serious now have you replaced the airbag control module or sent it away to have the crash data removed?

What was the extent of the crash damage, not many vehicles would restart after a head on impact sufficient to deploy the airbags mine did but there was practically zero body damage.

Your next step should be a VCDS scan.

Isn't there normally a pyro fuse off the battery these days so power is cut in case of fire etc?

Although you say fuses were checked, not sure if you just mean normal fuses in the fuse box

Fusible link, you would know if that was gone by the melted and dripping insulation and by the charred remains of copper & plastic elsewhere in the wiring loom.

Don't ask me how I know.....................................

Plus that would isolate every part of the electrical system.
