Smartlink has stopped working with my iPhone

Featured Replies

A few days ago my iPhone XR stopped connecting to smartlink/Apple CarPlay in my Kodiaq.

Today I have completed the following troubleshooting tasks:

1. Updated my iOS to most current version v16

2. Tried to reset the smart link connection by selecting Forget this Car... My car now no longer comes up as available when CarPlay on my phone tries to search for it while connected via USB cable.

3. Tried multiple cables (even bought a new one) and cleaned out both my iPhone charge point & the USB point in my car

4. The car does connect enough to charge my phone, so there is some connection occurring.

5. Tried another iPhone - the car still does not come up as available on its CarPlay in Settings.

6. The car was used by a friend at the weekend and none of their phones were connecting to CarPlay via the Smartlink.

Any ideas? Do I need to reboot the Firmware for the Infotainment system? If yes. Can I do that without going to a garage?

I hope someone can help

Funnily enough mine did the same today.

was fine yesterday.

have tried restarting both car, info and phone.

phone updated ages ago, so not an over night update.

even a different cable hasn’t yielded happiness.

got an eight hour drive with radio four on the cards now…

Actually the thought of radio four for eight hours…

just done a long press reset of info unit. Hold power button for 10plus seconds, reboots. Now connected ok. Yay got my R.C.Bray audio book back.
