Back subframe question

Featured Replies

Hi guys got a real quick question about the car

Octavia 2010 vrs diesel

after the rear subframe change the back of the car feels tail happy and a

bit wobbly

it is also an inch and a half taller than it was

could this be because the parts are new or wrong parts possibly fitted ?

many thanks

It could be, or it could be the subframe was replaced because the last one was gubbed and lower.

Maybe give some more info.

Is this a used rear subframe or a new part / patern part.

Anything else replaced at the time, springs / dampers, rubbers etc.

Thanks for answer

subframe changed because original was rusty. Very.

new one was correct part , second hand , fitted in a proper garage

just springs were changed because the left one was broken on the bottom bit so a new pair was ordered

nothing else but somehow still taller and wobbly …

So everything is going to have to be checked for the correct fit / tightening.

The new springs might well have the car sit higher than as was.  Be sure they are the correct springs, correct sitting.

Dampers correct, tyres not reinflated and over inflated, if directional on the correct side.

Maybe someone other than those that did the work need to cast an eye over the job.

How many miles are on the car?
If the front has worn springs and the back new it will feel weird.

By worn I mean worn, as opposed to not brand new.

If it’s a VRs, they did get VRs spring and the correct shorter bump stops?

Springs are a nightmare to get right, the original ones would have had a colour code on them.
