Please help identify my (very rare?) 8-spoke 16" wheels from 2002-2007 era

Featured Replies

Hi All

I'm looking for help identifying the exact model of wheels on my '04 plate Superb Mk 1 saloon. Picture attached.

Some back story. I bought the car in 2008 from a multi-brand main dealer where Skoda is their primary brand. It came specced with 17" wheels with 225/45 R17 tyres. I wanted 16" wheels and spotted some on what I am almost certain was also a Skoda nearby on the forecourt. I had them swapped over but have no record of what model they are.

Now I am about to take possession of a '12 plate Superb Mk2 estate (2.0 TDI 138bhp) that is also specced with 17" wheels with 225/45 R17 tyres. I am thinking of doing the same swap again and need to know the wheel specs of my 16" to be sure.

I know I could jack up the car and take a wheel off and clean it and see the specs there, but that would deny someone the chance to impress everyone on here. Besides, I'd still like to know the model name now that I've spent so long searching for wheels of that era (2002-ish to 2007-ish) on Google images and Autotrader, all in vain.

What I do know is that they follow the same design pattern as the 5-spoke Helios from about 2004 (second picture) but mine have 8 spokes instead. I can't find any evidence that there was an 8-spoke Helios version, so I think it must have a different name.

Does anyone recognise them?

Maybe someone has a brochure for any VAG model perhaps between 2002 - 2007 which shows them as options?

Any and all help appreciated, thanks.

They are the std 16” wheels off a MKI Superb Comfort (also came in 17” on the Edition 100)

from memory they are 7” wide and ET44? (Ish)

Thanks for your prompt reply. I'm overwhelmed with embarrassment. I tried every search I could think of for 8-spoke Skoda wheels and scoured Autotrader for old Superbs and Octavias etc, but drew a blank. In my shaky defence, there are no Mk1 Superb Comfort models on sale anywhere in Britain on Autotrader. I actually kept looking because I was sure I'd seen them some years ago in pictures.

Maybe this topic can be deleted, although it might provide some entertainment for bored forum surfers.

Once again, many thanks.

This alloy rim is shown in the Skoda parts catalogue, and when fitted to the Superb MK1 would normally be fitted with a 205/55R16 tyre.
