Pug E-2008 Thoughts & any issues?

Featured Replies

Anyone got or had any experience with a Pug E-2008?

I'm thinking of getting a used one 1-2 years old. Seen a GT spec with pano roof for £23k.

Give Stallantis EV's a miss.

Only go for a clean sheet build EV, not anything that comes with a Petrol. & Plug in & maybe even a diesel.

The 50kWh Batteries with 45 kWh Usable are crap if you are getting just 3-3.5 miles per kWh & if supposedly 52kWh and 50 usable that is a con.

There just not as good as Kia / Hyundai, or MG or Renault & need to get there act together.

Lovely interiors, stylee, nice looking, comfortable.  Need bigger batteries and better efficiency / range and Winter weather efficiency is very very poor.

Positive.

Used prices dropping, Ex Mobility cars coming into the trade & people are getting rid of them because they are ****e.

People are going for PHEV's for local and short trips and home charging.

Thanks for the info.

After looking at & sitting in the E-2008 the wife didn't like it. Apparently the bonnet is too big so she can't see the road ahead😕 Not sure how that works because she's currently driving our Karoq which has a similar bonnet. Ah well.

So we are now looking for a Kona. Test drove one the other day & it was pretty good & has buttons for most functions which is a plus in my book. I think we will wait until the new Kona comes out in a few months which should reduce the prices & increase the availability of the current facelift models. I now need to decide whether we lose the Superb 280 Estate or the Karoq 1.5 Edition to make way for the Kona?

I really don't want to part with my Superb but it is the older car so it's time with us may be up. I would take over the Karoq & the wife would have the the Kona which we would both share for local trips.

I got a valuation from AutoTrader on the Superb of £19,200 but I think I'll be after £20k minimum. When the time comes I will post it on the cars for sale section of the forum & probably on AT.

Try your nearest John Lewis; that's where I got my last coffee maker. ;)

@Colin170CRunless you have driven one for more than test rides i would arrange a 'loan or hire EV' from who ever lends out Demonstrators as they should and not just have the employees running them up to 3,000 miles.

Do your usual trip away from home if that is usually in Superb and be sure the EV suits.  Even if the trip does not require public charging just try it out.

Unless the EV is just for more local use.

I borrowed my sons BMW estate again and that has made my mind up that the Corsa goes back in 3 months.

Just a pity that is £71 a week i pay until it goes back.  I was back and fore to hospital a few times a day for the last 4 weeks and luckily did not need to be charging on public chargers because now up here there are too many EV's for those wanting to use them and there are crazy greedy drivers doing 100% charging and just plugging in to park.

Then the total muppets in Petrols & Diesels using EV bays just because they were available.

It is for exactly the reasons you describe that we will only be using the EV for local trips, by my wife mainly, & it will be charged from home from the grid or solar when available. I'm not comfortable with cost or the availability of public charging so I will be avoiding any of that for as long as possible. For trips any further than 200+ miles we will use whichever of the ICE cars we are left with. TBH both my wife & I only do around 5k miles or less a year each these days (both retired) so there's an argument that says says we should be able to make do with a single car now. However, I'm not ready to do that if it means only an EV so for now we will have to run two cars until we can't afford to do it anymore.

I am considering hiring an EV to give it a longer tryout but I think a used Kona is the right size / price of car for us as a 2nd car so to speak. Not the greatest looking thing but it covers all the bases & in Ultimate trim it gives her most if not more of all the bells & whistles she's used to on the Karoq.

Just still quite get my head around the fact that I may be selling my Superb to part fund the new car 😒

For local use, as long as you have driveway space to charge it every night, EV's are more convenient and cheaper to run. Very easy to integrate into daily life.

I don't think you'll will need to hire a car to try it out. That's because until you get home charge point installed, you may find it more hassle due to having to run a cable out of the window. The truth is, with home charge point, it's a matter of plugging it in when getting home and wake up with your expected range every morning. Don't need to think about range and don't need to think about charging.

With a Hyundai Kona it is just the choice smaller battery or bigger one and if buying as a keeper be sure there is nothing annoying with controls or features with the one you get.

Comfort and practicality and generally value for money.

The Premium 64kWh was the last one i tried rather than the Ultimate 64kWh.

Personally i preferred Kia Niro's.

Charger is already installed but no EV yet.

I think to meet my wife's "spec expectations" it will have to be the Ultimate model (sunroof needed) which I believe comes with the 64kWh battery as standard which gives us the range to get to family & get back without having to cadge electric while we are visiting. A 21/22 plate example with lowish miles would be just the ticket. Got to prep my Superb for sale first though.

I looked at Niro's. Good cars but a  but they are a bit more expensive & larger than we really need so the Kona is "goldilocks" size / model for us I think.
