Hi all, 

 

Ive just ordered some brake discs for my 1.2 2005 mk1 fabia and i’m not sure on the size, are they 256mm? if anyone could help me asap that’d be much appreciated

The 1.2 12V came with 239mm OR 256mm discs and associated parts.

There's a recent thread where this is discussed, including some nonsense, with pictures of the caliper markings for the 239mm FSII versions and FSIII caliper which would mean 256mm.

Like Pete has said, the front brake discs are either 239x18mm or 256x22mm.

 

So with a wheel off, it shouldn't be difficult to find out. Take a rough measurement of the diameter, or measure the thickness.

 

The minimum allowable thickness of the 256x22mm disc is 19mm, whereas the minimum allowable thickness of the 239x18mm disc is 16mm. Therefore if the thickness of the disc is more than 19mm, it will be the 256x22mm disc.

 

You can make a rough gauge out of some cardboard, by cutting it to form two parallel lines/sides 239mm apart or 256mm apart. Some people use an old wire coat hanger to use as a gauge.
