Where's the cheapest place to buy the parts needed for the 312mm upgrade? And roughly how much am I looking at in total?

Is it worth trying a scrapyard for some second hand ones or should I spend the extra on new ones?

Also, is it worth spending some extra cash on better disks and pads instead of the OEM ones? If so, what makes should I be looking at and where's the cheapest place to buy these?

golfturbo's deal is pretty good really. For potentiallt dodgy second hand systems, the saving isn't really worth it that much. I would say you'd still be spending I.R.O £100 + vat + p&p for a set from a scrapyard. For £230ish (I think) you get barely used calipers and disks in top notch condition.

Disks and pads only are £200 retail from Skoda/VW.

Third party pattern ones aren't much cheaper.
