Hi guys, I've just bought a 2004 Fabia Vrs and I'm wondering how to do a "Mufflerectomy". Am I right in thinking its just cutting off the old backbox and replacing it with a straight piece of 2 1/4" pipe with no bends in it and welding on a tip?

Yes, that's all it is, helps make your VRS sound like a Massey Ferguson and pull the plod, does nothing else, win/win.

It was quite a cheap car, don’t mind the noise haha, is it actually just pipe with no bends when you chop off the backbox?
