columbus music folder display

Featured Replies

In my 2017 superb with columbus I have all my music cd`s on a usb stick. When I select `media/source/usb` it starts to play the last album I was playing and shows the wonderful album cover.

To listen to a different album I touch the sreeen picture of the current playing album and it then displays the album covers of all of my albums - it`s a great look.

But it displays them alphabetically according to album name.

So e.g. even though I name them as `Beatles - album name aaa`, and then another `Beatles - album name zzz`, one is at the beginning while the other is at the end, with all other artists spread around also.

Is it possible to have them displayed according to artist name, not album name???  That way it would show all the Beatles together, then followed by artist name C etc

I have tried choosing `selection/artist name`, but it didn`t become the default setup.

Hope someone can help.

When playing the current album, press "select" button in the lower part of the screen, then on top of the screen, you get something like :

Jukebox > Source > Artist > Album >...

Then just press on Source and it will bring you back to the root of your USB stick and display your music sorted by artist. Then you'll access to your music as you'd like to.

Not as 'sexy' as displaying all album covers, as you currently have, but much more efficient to find any desired album.

thanks, but I do like the `sexy` look☺️

I own a SKODA  KAMIQ  2023 with two USB-C ports.  Here is how you can create & play a custom playlist, using a USB stick connected to the usb-C port through a USB-C male to USB-A female connector.

Lets say there are 5 songs written in the usb stick :  song1.mp3, , , , , song5.mp3.    *** ONLY ENGLISH alphabet letters are allowed in the song filenames ***

Lets say that you want to create a playlist with this playing order :  song3.mp3,  song1.mp3,  song4.mp3,  song2.mp3,  song5.mp3.

Open notepad (windows) and in an empty file put the following text :

<?wpl version="1.0"?>
<smil>
    <head>
        <meta name="Generator" content="Microsoft Windows Media Player -- 12.0.19041.1865"/>
        <meta name="ItemCount" content="5"/>
        <title>MyPlaylist</title>
    </head>
    <body>
        <seq>
            <media src="
song3.mp3"/>

            <media src="song1.mp3"/>

            <media src="song4.mp3"/>

            <media src="song2.mp3"/>

            <media src="song5.mp3"/>

        </seq>
    </body>
</smil>

Save the file as "MyPlaylist.wpl" and copy it to the USB stick.

Keep in mind that :

-the filename of the playlist must be the same as the name in the 6th line of the above text   <title>MyPlaylist</title>

-the number of songs in the list must be equal to the number in the 5th line of the above text  :   <meta name="ItemCount" content="5"/>

-ONLY ENGLISH alphabet letters are allowed in the song filenames and inside this .wpl file.

Even one non-english letter will make the playlist unreadable!!

Connect the USB stick, and from the media menu  load the playlist MyPlaylist.wpl, and that's it!!!

Enjoy!!!
