Transmission oil change

Featured Replies

I have changed a transmission oil on skoda octavia 6 gear manual 4x4 before two weeks, like 2l oil from k2 75w90 filled, unfortunately now starts dripping oil. I don't know if it's the right oil for my gear Box?

Welcome.

No idea about the oil used of the quantity, someone will be along that does,

but where is the leak from, is it from the Drain Plug?

Drain plug? 🥴

Was I supposed to drain the old oil? 🤣

Indeed, then replace it and fingers crossed there is no leak.

If not from there from where?

ya, finally some one recommended this type of oil to change it again

it's not from the drain plug, I think leaking from the sealing, I thinks I should replace the same amount to what I have drained it was only 1.6l not more

Are you talking about draining and refilling the Haldex coupling which is attached to the rear differential or the 6 speed transmission coupled to the engine?

The oil you have shown is for the Haldex coupling.

If the above is correct are you 100% sure that you did not drain down the differential oil by mistake (very easily done) and then put in 1.6l of 75/90 gear oil on top of the Haldex fluid thus overfilling it? I have been there done that and got the T shirt 🥴

If so that would explain the leak but more importantly you will be driving around with a bone dry differential which will quickly turn into a nightmare massive repair bill.

My apologies if I have misunderstood, I appreciate that you are communicating in a second language.

Mr J.R I said the wrong oil 75w90 flush it out, and filling with the write haldex oil for 6 gear transmission.

Can you please confirm what end of the car you are working on, front or back?

Haldex fluid is made for the Haldex coupling on the rear differential and is absolutely not suitable for the 6 speed transmission at the front of the car.

And also not suitable for the rear differential which is separate to the haldex coupling?

@Alie there are three things that contain oil...   Front six speed gearbox, rear haldex coupling and also rear differential.

What exactly are you trying to drain and refill?

Both gear Box oil and back rear haldex coupling

Is the oil spec GL4 or GL5 good for 6 speed gearbox Skoda octavia 2009 4x4 manual?

Drain GL 5 spec oil and refill it with GL4 spec Febi billstein oil

As skomaz asked. Is it for:

1 Front gearbox? or

2 Rear Haldex coupling? or

3 Rear differential?

?

Has the issue with the leak from the seal or where ever been addressed yet, is it a seal?

Is that getting done before any further changing of the oil, or at the time?

Hi ,

I think you mean Gearbox . I have a manuel 6 speed gearbox , with MRV code  . I did the same mistake by filling more than it needed and it leaked from the breathers.  I had filled 2.3 liters ( as written in workshop manual but it refers to a complete teardown gearbox) in the beginning and correct amount should be 2.1.  The mistake being done is that the oil you drain and oil you fill should be near temperature and in some cars you should take it for a drive and check it again. I changed mine at 120000 km and will change it soon again at 180000 km . Oil viscousity should be 75W . NOT 75-90, it is for bevel box and rear differential.
