Reverse camera fitting guide

Featured Replies

Help! Really missed the reverse camera when I changed Superb to the Kodiaq! So decided to fit own camera, purchased genuine parts (loom and handle) from CZ to save money, but no fitting guide! Plenty of bits out there on the web, but loom has a series of white whites that I have no detail of where to connect, 1 in tailgate, rest in dash area. If anyone has any idea or detail of where these wires connect please advise. Think they are trigger wires but without ideas of where to connect I’m a tad stuffed!

I've recently fitted one to mine - instructions were not very helpful but I'll try to find the leaflet.

What's the part number of your kit & do you have an image of the loom (so I could try to figure what goes where ?  Do you have access to workshop manuals ?

Even if you fit the camera (assuming it's a new part, not a used one) difficult thing is parameter upload / calibration (even coding via VCDS was nowhere near straightforward in my case).

Do you have VCDS and more importantly VAG dongle such as 6154 etc... ?

Ronery,

Thanks for reply and apologies for delay.

Part supplied to me is OEM 566827566A KIT Rear view camera for Škoda Kodiaq / Karoq / Superb 3 facelift

Detail of my last communication with seller -

"still I cannot get the camera module (6c) to acknowledge the install.

To confirm, on the OEM lead,
insert black to blue plug pin 12, clear wire fitted to blue pin 6.
connect  CAN high to existing wire in grey plug pin 6 and CAN low to wire in pin 6
there are no other connections for pin 1 in rear door or steady plus / earth to be made.
Please confirm so I can progress to establish if wiring, camera module or coding is at fault."

I have only OBD11 dongle / app, looks like VCDS required?
If it is just a matter of VCDS config, if all connections I have made are correct, may you be available to assist If I came to you? Beer tickets available!

Your canbus wires are incorrect, you want pin 6 and pin 12, not 6 and 6.

Once its fitted it can be coded with obd11 but you will be left with fault codes for no calibration. This can only be done with the correct target board and odis.

Snowr0, once you fix your wiring, you will probably end up with these 3 faults :

Control module not coded => you need the whole string written at once so instead of trying to figure out yourself, you could start with existing ones over the net (I've found mine in vag coding database after trying 10+ different codings). For me the following coding worked at first (then I fine tuned) :

01840301A3002217000040

No end of line programming => you need to upload parameters to 6C (I've done with cheap ODIS dongle, which later turned out to be quite useful for other stuff).

No basic setting / calibration => as ApertureS mentioned, you need the calibration board VAS 6350, check this topic

I tried to DIY it (plotted the whole thing and then taped on an mdf board) however couldn't make it work. Nevertheless, it's not a showstopper - you still can use the camera, just can't rely on it I suppose!
