ARB Links question?

Featured Replies

Have a look at the front suspension today to see what sort of job it is to fit some powerflex bushes on arb and arb links.

Could someone please confirm a few of questions for me.

1.Is the arb link the very long one about 18"(rough guess) that goes from the arb to top of the inner arch(think its connected to the suspension.

2.Powerflex do some replacement bushes for the link, are they easy to fit,is it just a matter of undoing the 2 nuts, forcing the bushes out and then refitting with new nuts.

3.Has anyone fitted these and do they tighten the steering up.

4.Going to replace the arb bushes as well but have checked arb which is 19mm(octy vrs 52 plate),have people fitted the 21mm ones from powerflex to there 19mm bar?

Thanks

No idea on anything else, but why not fit the golf R32 front ARB for really good steering response. It's a fairly cheap part, but IIRC it should be done in conjunction witha rear ARB.

Jay,

Firstly, you need to fit the 19mm Bushes, 21mmm are too big, they are designed to clamp the bar so 21mm would rattle around. I have looked at the powerflex option for the ARB Links ( you are right in your description of them they go vertically from the Spring platform to the ARB). I would go for the R32 Bar, its about

Fitting the new bushes is a petty quick and easy thing to do.

But to change an ARB, you have to drop the whole front sub-frame (I think), then re-set the front suspension/alignment. Not a DIY job.
