Featured Replies

i have a 2009 vrs tdi that the hazard lights come on intermitently when car is parked ,has anyone had this problem

It sounds like the alarm is being triggered and the siren is knacked.

cheers for replý,funny you say that i have had car 2 years and never heard alarm sound, any ideas how to disable this,

Firstly confirm my theory by locking the car with the remote, wait a minute then unlock the door by physically inserting the key.

If the alarm siren is silent but the hazards flash then it's confirmed.

I would then start by thoroughly vacuuming the ultrasonic motion detector (small grilles in ceiling front central section).  Fluff/insects can trigger the alarm as can a breeze from an open window.

You can disable the internal motion detection (for pets etc.) by pressing the button on the driver's side B pillar.

hi,tried it all and still doing the same,no alarm when door opens,no hazards, cleaned vent, pressed pillar button and still coming on,doing my head in lol

That should rule out the interior sensing, now it gets more complicated...

In theory you have a dodgy door/bonnet/tailgate open sensor/switch/wiring.

OTTOMH I can't say where to look and what to check but I would start with opening everything, giving the door handles a good workout and closing everything up hard.

I mention the door handles as I had a Peugeot with a faulting alarm, traced to a worn switch in a rear door handle of all places, fixed by adding a plastic shim!  I have no idea if the Octy has a similar setup but it won't hurt to exercise the moving parts.
