Bulb out warning light - Fabia VRS MK2

Featured Replies

Hello Forum,

I was wondering if anyone knows what the issue could be here?

When I turn my headlights on and turn the steering wheel left or right (half a turn) the orange bulb out warning error pops up on the dash. Turning the ignition on and off again resets the light..

If I'm driving in a straight line with the headlights switched on then the warning doesn't pop up.

With the headlights switched off I don't get any bulb out warning light, even when turning the steering wheel. It only happens when the headlights are on.

Fabia VRS MK2 DSG 2014.

Someone mentioned that it could be because of the cornering lights function being activated in VCDS. Could this cause the warning to pop up when turning the wheel?

Maybe it could be if someone tried activating something the car never came with.

Maybe just the regular bad connection at the DRL / Sidelight  unit.

@UrbanPanzermight be able to help.

@toot Thanks, I'll check the connections for the DRLs. It could also be that the previous owner activated a function that the car doesn't have, as it's been like this since I've had the car.

I've seen this recently with the fault code being AFS inoperative or somesuch guff, it was on a VW, and was caused by a coding error IIRC.

@sepulchrave Thanks, hopefully it's just an easy fix via VCDS, if I can get a hold of one.

Sounds to me that the cornering lights function is enabled / coded when it's not fitted on the vRS.

It's likely the control unit "senses" that the steering is turned, but the bulb / light has not lit (which would be front fog on non vRS models, hence throws a bulb failure error

@UrbanPanzer Thanks, I'm going to get the VCDS plugged in and hopefully that's what it is.

@UrbanPanzer

Thanks all. I connected the car to VCDS today and the cornering lights option was enabled, I disabled it and no more bulb out warning light.
