Skoda Fabia 2013 SE1.2 12v Bluetooth Retrofit

Recommended Posts

Hi there

We have just purchased a Skoda Fabia 2013 SE1.2 12v car. It does not have bluetooth and we are looking for a solution that will allow our son to play his music via his iphone and receive calls (if he really has to). We dont want him tempted looking nor touching his phone during long commutes

I am looking for a hands free solution (if there is one). There are no controls on the steering wheel as this is the base model. The radio he has in is the SkodaAuto Swing. We live in Gloucester but willing to travel to i.e. Swansea, Bristol if there is a company that can perhaps assist

No idea of costs - just a 10 year old car that needs a bit of an upgrade - we would be very grateful for any advice - hopefully there is a Fabia 2013 car owner out there or someone that can help and also give an idea of price if possible

Thank you very much in advance for any assistance offered

one option would be a parrot kit, this would give bluetooth streaming and total hands free telephone but leave the car interior "untouched"

Other option would be a new headunit which is bluetooth etc ready, as an example........in fairness these are incredibly good value considering how much tech is inside. Halfords do a fitting service if you cannot DIY, you would need

to  purchase an additonal CAN bus adapter for this to fully intergrate with the car system.

with the above option you would need a single DIN adapter to convert the dash, very easu to fit, on the flip side you get another cubby hole for junk or more importantly your phone so your cup holders are free. 😀

I would "avoid" cheap chinese double din units, they are pretty awful in operation "imo".

I added the following to my 2011 Fabia:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08FYNQZWP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It plugs in on the passenger side cutout, replacing the old 30pin iPod Media Adapter. Works great for bluetooth for music/audiobooks/whatever. I'll be honest, I havent' taken calls with it and assume it probably wouldn't work great for that as you'd have to rely on the phone's microphone over the noise of the speakers so might not be exactly what you're after.

I purely use it for Bluetooth audio, so yeah it’s essentially just aux.

I have my phone on silent whenever I drive but I don’t think it would be suitable for calls anyway.

Oh - I use iOS sorry but it would work with android.
