Update - I emailed supplying dealer who said it should be possible to enable wireless android auto which is good

As a side note have been using wired Android Auto , I'm leaving the cable connected to car and removing mobile when finished

Will I have a problem draining problem , does car usb c power off ? or am I better just disconnecting cable each time ? Can't see the cable draining much with no phone attached ?

Regards

On a cable note, the cable with nothing attached won't drain. The USB-C is smart from what I understand, if it detects power demand it will provide, if not then it won't.

If you choose to get it done please let me know how much it ends up costing, i'd love wireless carplay.

Any update on this? I see the wireless charging option was only 50 quid, wish I had noticed that when ordering.  But wondering if all the hardware is already there and just needs activted, at a cost.

I do have a wireless adapter plugged into the USB C slot, well hidden and works great, but would prefer a tidier finish in centre console.

Still waiting for answer , dealer contacted Skoda not heard anything for a week

Have chased dealer no reply

Will let you know

Cheers Steve

Contacted my dealer's service department this morning by email and got a reply from an aftersales manager, but he obviously did not read, or understand, my question as he advised me to "try connecting via bluetooth"!

So that was a waste of time. Hopefully steveeeg you get a better response.

My dealer said could not enable wireless AA , had to be part of original car build as it's hardware related

Regards Steve

Yep, thought that would be the case. I am quite happy with the wireless dongle I am using, managed to secrete it very well, but would have preferred factory option.

I have bought a few for family cars. All work no problem in the Skoda and in cars with aftermarket head units.

Just realised that you are looking for an Android Auto adapter. Check out the reviews for these items for sale on Amazon, some are for sale from sellers also doing Carplay adapters. They look identical to mine, but I assume there must be different internals for Android and Apple.

Many thanks , do you leave the adapter plugged into car all the time , or just when using in case it drains battery ?

Regards Steve

Just leave it plugged in, no drain on battery as it is not drawing any power when not connecting phone to head unit.

If you have an Amazon account, I would recommend you buy one there from a seller with lots of positive comments. Easy returns if you have any issues, but in my experience, these adapters just work. If you buy one keep us updated on how it goes.

Mine all came with double sided tape. I have mine discreeted on upper part of centre console, can only be seen when bent down and looking for it. I have not been in my car for well over a week, as since retiring I do not use any car very often. Car starts no problem, and by time I have reversed down driveway the adapter is fully connected and Carplay is on the car screen.

Many thanks , sounds ideal

Look for items with USB C connections, as USB C port only in Fabia. Many come with USB A to USB C adapters, but aesthetically better with USB C and short cable.
