Six cylinder Fabia!!!

Featured Replies

Naah...............not really, but.............I've got a courtesy car while my vRS is in for a bit of work and they've given me a brand new Fabia TDi........with a litle bit of imagination, the three cylinder engine sounds somewhat like a V6!!!In reality though, what a smooth motor....turbine smooth!!Goes ok too for what it is. Pulls very cleanly from 2000 rpm, blah, blah, blah. One thing though. Trip computer showed about 51mpg for the journey home..............same as my vRS, so..............why bother with a low spec model??

*ahem*

I had one of these as a loan car too. I'd agree that they are quite nippy, but the 3 cylinder lump was far from smooth. The whole dash seemed to vibrate when idling! Thinking about it, surely a 3 cylinder would not be as smooth as a 4 cylinder? Generally speaking, more cylinders equals smoother engine.

I had a 1.4TDI (75BHP) courtesy car and it sounded rather agricultural!!! No torque below 2,000rpm and I was glad to get shot of it after nearly 2 weeks!

hmmmmmm 2 of these engines joined together in a V formation.... 2.8v6 TDi with a load of torque.... ummm ok im being daft

My old A2 was the 1.4TDI 75 bhp varient and it certainly became vocal at high revs. Mnd you coupled with the A2's non existant weight it certainly shifted.

You should try the 3cyl 1.2 petrol. I had one as a loaner when mine was in for a service last week. Sounds quite good and it's a smooth little thing. Quite low revving for a petrol - didn't like much over 5k and it's redlined at 5.5k.

Damn slow tho with only 54bhp on the 6v version. I suspect the 12v is better. Consumption was bobbins compared to the vRS - 65mpg on the way to the dealer, and 39 on the way back to work in the 1.2!

I'd be interested to try the 1.4TDI next time - sounds like the ideal compromise for a normal (ie non-vRS) Fabia. Turbo grunt plus the fun noise. :D

Already done as the 2.5 and 3.0 V6 TDI lump found in Pi55rats and Tourag things Oh and Pheatons too!

I had one of these 1.4 TDIs (75BHP) in a Bohemia estate a few weeks back, not bad once the turbo kicks in but no torque before that, I guess as it's a low capacity engine. That didn't make it very nice to drive unfortunately even though on paper it is good. I'd rather have the 1.2 petrol or a 'proper' 1.9TDI.

I think you've all been spoilt :D

I really like mine, especially the "sudden" boost at 2200rpm!
