folding

Featured Replies

What the Prescott is folding?

I was hoping is was either some origami class or putting sheep in pens (fenced areas not Bics).

Well this is my understanding of it, but I'm sure others can add more....

Folding is basically people around the world (hundreds of thousands of them!) using their computers to do a "good deed for the day".

It's a little programme that you set up to run in the background on your computer, and it helps medical research by giving them lots more processing power to analyse protein behaviour and how it contributes to various diseases.

Briskoda have a folding team, and there are league tables etc to show our performance as a team, and within the team.

The Folding at Home site (run by Stanford University in the USA) is http://folding.stanford.edu/

There is a thread on here in the Folding Section with links showing how to download the folding programme.

Hope that helps - if you do give it a try and need any assistance, just post in the folding section and I'm sure there will be lots of offers of help.

I think your computer needs to be permanently (or at least regularly) turned on to give the most benefit.
