ACC sensor removed and lost by mechanic

Featured Replies

Hello,

During calibration of ACC the mechanic has "lost" the sensor.

He has informed it had to be removed to be calibrated and he has misplaced it

Can someone confirm there is no requirement to remove ACC during calibration before I take this further

Thanks

Main dealer or local friendly mechanic? This only matters as to how hard you need to go at them.

Doesn't really matter if it needed to be removed or not, the fact is it was removed and is now missing and they have a duty to either find it or buy you a new one.

Was local mobile mechanic

Is this the square sensor mounted in the front grille? I really fail to understand why it had to be removed for calibration - it would have to be correctly mounted on the vehicle to calibrate!

What does your 'mechanic' propose to do about this?

Yes that's the one

He said he removed beacuse another mechanic had a better computer to try re-calibrate. Which I thought sounded BS

I fear you were right.

Probably the least worst outcome you could have had asking a mobile mechanic to set up the ACC system.

Take it further asap.

Also, why did it supposedly need calibration?

Actually not the legal issue here. He removed it and lost it, and is now trying to weasel out of making restitution.
