Kodiaq Canton replacement

Featured Replies

Hello everybody.

Im new here and hope i dont break any rules with my first post in here. English is not my first language so my apologies for spelling mistakes.

Having some issues with MY2019 Kodiaq canton sound system. Front speakers started to make "crackling" noises when volume was about three quarters and they were replaced under warranty. 3 months later they are "crackling" again at the same volume. Contacted dealer about it, but since the car warranty has come to an end, then replaced speakers also dont have any extended warranty. Since im a DIY kinda guy, would there be better quality plug and play aftermarket speakers to replace them with canton ones?

Are both speakers crackling?

Did a little test and crackling comes from front right(passenger side in EU) tweeter. I guess it would be pretty cheap to replace it. But i was curious maybe there are some upgrade bolt on kits since the door panels a making terrible noise, would have also been nice to add some sound insulation.

You may find some upgrades for std system but these usually exclude Canton, the reason being Canton uses a non-std amp to power the system. In other word you'd need speakers to either match the Canton amp or replace the amp but then you're into all sorts of issues with the infortainment software controlling it. Much easier to just replace the tweeter.

To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure if the Canton speakers are any different from the std speakers, it's just the amp driving them is different.

I hve no issues re:door panels. If they've been removed before it may be they haven't been re-attached properly or some of the door wiring hasn't be re-routed properly.
