Protecting User Profile

Featured Replies

I'm not very computer literate, and I'm having trouble understanding where I've gone wrong with my new Skoda Karoq.

I've set up a Skoda Connect account, and I've got an S-pin. However often when I switch off the engine a message pops up on the infotainment screen saying that my user profile is unprotected, and that I can protect it using an S-pin. But it doesn't tell me how, or maybe I just don't understand what it is saying. I keep keying in my S-pin, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Or am I supposed to key in my S-pin every time I get into the car? If so, it seems an awful lot of trouble, particularly as usually when I first start up I'm in a spot in which the park assist facilities kick in, so it's only when I've pulled out onto the road that it asks for the S-pin to be keyed in, so not very safe to say the least to be driving along whilst trying to key in the code! Surely this cannot be correct?

Can anyone explain what needs to be done, preferably in words which a 76 year old can understand?

I also get these messages but just ignore them. I seem to remember when I first got my car that there was a setting in the profile screen that let you use the S-PIN to lock your profile, but that you then had to enter the S-PIN every time you started the car. (But it was over two years ago so I might be misremembering this.) Anyway I decided it was too much of a faff as I'm the only driver so I just left it displaying its warning message instead.

I contacted Skoda Connect, and got onto the technical help people, who set out precise instructions numbered 1,2,3 etc. steps to follow, and guess what, the same message still comes up! So I'm going to follow Chris's advice, and ignore.
