VRS springs on a 1.9 tdi ?

Featured Replies

Hello there,

I’m thinking about lowering a bit my fabia II 1.9tdi. I’ve used in the past the bilstein B12 pro kit to lower a Octy Vrs and eventually, I think that’s a pain in the ass for city driving (my city us full of pot holes and speed bumps). Besides, in Spain, if you lower a car under 30mm you have to do an engineering project to pass the MOT test. So, all things considered, thought about using VRS springs that only lower the car 15mm, plus I can safely use stock absorbers.

Could anybody help me out and tell me if that’s posible? Anybody could handle me the Vrs springs part number? I’ve been searching in several online shops and that was a nightmare of references!

thanks a lot in advance for your help!

OEM Mk2 Fabia vRS springs are not great and not worth paying the price to buy new ones IMO.

@Carlstonmight be able to give you the info on alternative springs.

Info from @Carlstonalready here.

@Cruciancan maybe tell you the part number of the springs he bought.

Thanks a lot @toot!! That was a very usefull link indeed. I’m conscious that oem Vrs aren’t the best springs, but I guess that it is the only option to lower just 15-20mm. I gladly would buy Eibach again, but it would mean a lot of paperwork in Spain as they start from 30mm. Plus, the Fabia is my wife’s car, we mostly use it for commuting. Thanks again!

@uniteunion We opted for genuine springs from VAG as they were stocked locally part No. 6Q0 411 105 AE three green two brown dots

3 green dots and 2 brown dots is 6R0411105AK, not 6Q0411105AE.

6R0411105AK Front coil spring L63
3 green paint marks
2 brown paint marks

You may need to change the dampers too.

Wow, thanks a lot to you all! Much appreciated. I was looking for the part number by myself and figured out that 6Q0511115AA would be the right ones for the rear. But, I’m a bit lost in the front. The 6R0411105AK are the correct ones then? That’s what I understand, but my english level puts me in doubt. Many thanks again in advance!

6R0411105AK is a front spring for the Fabia MK2 VRS. That car uses a 1.4 petrol engine which weighs a lot less than a 1.9 diesel engine, so 6R0411105AK won't be suitable for the Fabia MK2 1.9TDI.

6Q0411105BF is the lowered ride height front spring used by the Fabia MK1 VRS, so that spring should be suitable for a lowered ride height Fabia MK2 1.9TDI.

The Fabia MK1 VRS and Fabia MK2 VRS both use the same 6Q0511115AA lowered ride height rear springs. So that rear spring is a good choice for a lowered ride height Fabia MK2 1.9TDI.

The Fabia MK1 and Fabia MK2 are based on the Polo MK4. The Fabia MK3 is based on the Polo MK5.

Skoda had the wrong kerb weight for MK2 Fabia vRS when launched and had ballast added to the rear crash bar of the vRS.    They had it as heavier than a MK2 Fabia Monte Carlo 1.6 TDI manual  which is near to the OP car.   Option springs for the vRS or Monte Carlo were Eibach and fitted at the PDI and not at the factory.  Maybe check out what they were on the Hatch Fabia.   That comes as 1.2 TSI manual or TDI manual.  Or 1.4 TSI DSG with added ballast on rear.

Brilliant handfull of information and help, thanks a lot! It makes sense about the weight, Mk1 Vrs used the TDI engine so the springs you say should be the right ones. Those are goong to be my choice, thanks again. I’ll post the result!
