2011 Fabia - Low antifreeze in coolant (?)

Featured Replies

Hi All!

Pretty clueless when it comes to cars unfortunately, but trying to learn a little bit and avoid getting mugged off wherever possible.

Took my petrol 2011 Fabia Monte Carlo into the Garage for service/MOT today. As part of the service, they noticed the antifreeze level in the coolant is apparently so low it didn't register on their device for checking the ratio. They've recommended draining and replacing it, at a cost of £75+VAT.

I said I'd wait as I felt like this is probably a simple enough job to do myself. I guess my question is

1. How much of a ballache is this to do?
2. Is that quote a fair price? Halford seem to offer a similar service for £40, but ... Halfords.

Cheers!

It's an incredibly simple thing to do, therefore you should pay £40 and get Halfords to do it since they will correctly dispose of your old coolant which is more difficult for you to do.

Appreciate it! The garage seemed to imply there was a bit of a knack to it so was slightly hesitant to try it myself.
