'09 1.9tdi, Does Low Fuel Level Really Block Dpf Regen?

Featured Replies

Yesterday the dpf light came on, indicating that it wouldn't regen, the low fuel warning was also on but indicated a range of 65 miles. I couldn't find anything in the handbook or online specific to the Superb 2 but came across an item about another VAG group vehicle (Golf 6) that low fuel level would block dpf regen.  I put £10 worth fuel in and the dpf light extinguished within 10 miles.

Is this really true? I owned a B6 Passat 2.0tdi for 5 years and this never happened. Does low fuel level really block dpf regen?

Yes, I was doing one last week in ODIS and it popped up a message that I needed a minimum 20 litres of fuel to start a service regeneration.

Yes but I can't work out the logic of why especially when these vehicles always have another 50-1000 miles of "virtual reserve capacity" beyond the zero miles remaining indication.

It would be better to pop up a message saying "regen about to commence, press X to abort is you have less then 20kms remaining of your journey" but then people would realise just how frequently they happen.

Retarded logic if you ask me! I wonder how many people have been caught out with unnecessary bills and stress by that one?

Am I allowed to say retarded in the world of WOKE? Just to be clear it wasn’t a reference to a person or group of people of any form!
