No bulb warning light - no brake lights

Hello fellow community!

Here is what has happened:

Previous problem:
- Brake lights stay on all the time
-> Battery empty
-> Owner boosts engine alive with a cheapo charger/booster (the fault code for excessive voltage in Address 17, is from that occurence)
-> Next the wipers get their own life and cannot be turned off

Now:
No problems with wipers
BUT: there are no brake lights, no voltage at left, right nor third brake lights
The 5 amp fuse number 8, under steering wheel, is ok - changed it any way - and battery voltage present
AND: the bulb worning indicator is not lit, not when brakes are applied, not when ignition is turned on
How ever: the bulb indicator light is turned on when I removed both parking lights rear on one side - so working
And: VCDS Adderss 09: Central Electrics J519 - Advanced Measuring blocks - I can see when brake pedal is operated, so the switch seems to be working at the moment at least
The brake switch is mounted on the brake cylinder and I have battery voltage out from it, pressing brake pedal and 0V when brake pedal is released
Ground resistance 4 ohm though at the switch connector connected and 1.1 ohm at the connector disconnected.

Do I have any way to check more closely what has happened?
My immediate guess was the Central electric control unit. But funny, there are no fault codes. Switch? But no EPC light.

As far as I can see, on this vehicle the 12V signal from the brake light switch goes into the BCM on pin 43 of the black 73-way connector, on a thin black/red wire.

The output that actually drives the bulbs is on pin 16 of the white 73-way on a thicker black/red wire.

So look for the presence of both while pressing the pedal with engine running. You may see the former but not the latter, which would narrow it down to a BCM issue, I think.

You could also try removing the brake light bulbs & see if you get a bulb warning error, the system probably pulses thel as well on start up to check them.

The trailer module error code might be significant, does not the all singing and dancing system suppress the rear brake lights when trailer is connected or is it only the rear fog light?

Only foglight and maybe reversing light I think JR, and the fault is probably just to do with the battery having gone flat.

No, there was no warning light with brake light bulb removed.
I thought I had battery for it home, but its 74 Ah and doesnt fit. So I have the battery on charge. I will be getting new batteries.
I will check the signal in and out from BCM tomorrow or next day.

I have battery voltage on pin 3 when brake pedal is depressed and 0 V when its released - so the switch is sending the voltage forworth.
Brake switch connector:
Pin 1 <-> ECU (guess sthis is what VCDS is interpreting)
Pin 2 <-> ground shared with other components (with switch not connected I had 1.1 ohm resistans - with switch connected 4 ohm resistance)
Pin 3 -> outgoing 12V to BCM Pin 43 -> BCM pin 16 -> Brake lights
Pin 4 <- incoming 12 V shared with other components

Although it wouldnt be the first time I missread a situation =/

There is no bulb monitoring on a Fabia mk2.

Afaik, all bulb circuits are conventional, controlled directly by the appropriate switches.

This is a loom/earthing problem at a guess.

The pin 3 signal goes to engine ECU and BCM, now that I look again, but the pin 1 signal has opposite sense, 12V when pedal not pressed, open circuit when braking.

Pin 4 and 2 as you say @Orchid70, supply and earth for the brake switch module.

@xman, the bulb monitoring is inside the BCM, I believe, on facelift mk2s.

Soo, it was easier to drill out the 6 plastic rivets on the BCM, than try to measure on the connectors, that are so bloody short!!!
Its by the way pin 43 on connector A
And pin 16 on connector B

Well, after taking BCM off, it smelled of explotion 😃
Here:
4 pictures of the damage. One from other side. And one of the cover that needs to drilled off - what ever for it is wellded on is beond me????

And before getting the BCM off of the car, I checked if the bulb warning light lit up without brake bulb mounted and it did.

Just letting everyone know - the brake lights once again work 😃
I copied the Long Coding to the used new BCM and everthing was ok - untill I deleted fault codes and did new Auto-Scan.
A fault code for incorrect coding in CAN Gateway and no Trailer module registered, allthough the hardware is read out:

Bought a second-hand Skoda Fabia a short while back, as my first car after passing my test. While I'm normally fairly tech-savvy, I'm a bit new to cars and infotainment systems etc. I've found the service menu by holding down the [Menu] button and can see the software appears to be from April 2015. I tried the Skoda update website, but it says there is no update available for my VIN. I don't buy that for a second. that there isn't a newer version after 4 years, but have spent las

Hi everyone! I’ve been thinking about taking my TDI RS Octavia to a track day, but I know that the stock oil cooling is a critical weak point. My question is whether there is an OEM+ solution out there, like using a Crafter oil cooler, or if I should go with an external oil cooler instead. On top of that, how plug-and-play is an external oil cooler setup?

Good morning everyone, I need your help resolving an issue I can't seem to resolve, even with the help of Skoda customer service. Hi again Hoping for some more good advice! Cam belt is at 40K ,5 years approx. I know there is a lot of controversy around timings of cam belt changes,and it seems the precautionary principle is the main view.Expensive principle but fair enough.I was having the belt changed because I could occasionally here a low rumble at tick over. Thinking tensioner pulley or something potentially very nasty. However,the rumble disappears when the clutch is pressed,and on my VW T4 I was told a new dual mass

Hi , hope someone can shed some light on a this . On an 2021 Octavia fault says. The regeneration frequency of Diesel Particulate Filter is not ok , says the fault is permanent . Car is due to go for software update , would this have something to do with it. Thanks
