I'm curious where the tandem pump vacuum exhaust goes and if it was related to pressure pulses from an open oil filler cap on a running engine.

Hello Mac, I think there is no relation - the pressure pulses you refer to will be from the crankcase - as the pistons descend towards BDC.

From memory it does vent back into the valve “chest”/ rockerbox
