Octavia iV wont charge - plug will not lock in place

Featured Replies

Afternoon

I'm having another problem with my iV. When i plug it in to charge, the plug doesn't lock in place.  The white led just goes out. I've can't see any debris in the socket. Any ideas?

Have you tried a different charging location and also a different charging cable?

The lock will also only engage once you lock the car.

Thanks for the prompt response. Yes, I have tried both my podpoint and the granny charger with car locked and unlocked and no difference. Car "knows" it is plugged in because it warns me not to drive off.  I'm assuming I'm doing something wrong (has worked fine for a couple of months before yesterday). I'll keep experimenting.

An update.

Today the car was completely dead.  Range Skoda Assist who got the AA out who confirmed the 12v battery was completely flat.  The AA man did his thing and suggested I take the car out for a good run.  Just got home and plugged the car in and the charging cable has locked in place and the car is charging.  I'm booked into Skoda next Tuesday for them to look at the charger and update the software so I'll post an update then.

So the garage said that the car is fine and I have had my software updated to 1941.  They said that the software crashing probably drained the battery - not sure if that is a credible explanation.  Anyway, no crashes since and car is charging fine. Fingers crossed!

Hi.

Have you had any issues since this??

this has happened to me twice now and Skoda have no answer

Any future events? Exact same has just happened to mine. Waiting on Škoda diagnostic appointment. But have lost confidence in the car somewhat

You can pull a fuse to hard reset car. Instead of waiting for battery to die. Can't remember which one but it's in another post on this forum

Sounds like a better plan whilst I wait for Skoda. Any idea which post??

Fuse #3 worked for me (only had to do it once)

Same. Fuse 3 still doing it's magic!

Hi, having this same issue, could you condition if it is fuse 3 inside the car or in the engine bay?

It's in the engine bay on my car
