Question about Ac

Featured Replies

Wonder if the Ac compressor takes any damage if the gas has leaked out ?

Or can I use the heater system and repair the ac then I have the time too do it ?

and use the car as normal?

If more info is needed ask and i will ad the things i know about the issue

Hello KW, welcome to the forum. I advise caution - AFAIK, the compressor lubricating oil is entrained with the refrigerant, therefore no refrigerant = possibly no oil.

so best way is a shorter multi belt ?  soo the Ac compressor doesn't rotate at all ,until the ac is repaired.

You wont have any problem, the vast majority of the oil remains in the compressor and the compressor will not be operating with low refrigerant.

That said the belt from a non AC equipped vehicle is a very usefull thing to carry in the event of a problem with the shear plate or pulley bearing, I have one in my breakdown kit.
