Amundsen+ gps mislocation

Featured Replies

okay, i posted this, kind of, in the chuckle thread last week, but i do want to look into solving it.

over the last few months the gps hasn't been worrking correctly at all.  it spent quite a while showing me in the middle of the sea with no land visible even at full zoom out.

last week i flicked it on to see if it was resolved and it showed me as being around Marlborough. i live in the South of Ireland, so a misposition of about 500miles East...

i havnt updated the maps as i do t have the SD card that came with the car.

so, would getting a card off internet and doing the update make a difference or is this a problem with the antenna?

More likely an antenna issue :)

oh joy....

its all built into the radio antenna isnt it?

You've tried switching it off and on again? (Was a serious question - reboot might reconnect summint)

I think getting a new card might just provide it with a new list of places and stuff, but if the problem is that it doesn't know where it is, then something else is up.  Agree with langers2k.

Yeah, the GPS antenna is part of the sharkfin on the roof. They can suffer from water ingress...

Easiest/cheapest fix is to buy an aftermarket GPS puck with a fakra connector and try that. I think they are less than a tenner and will at least confirm the fault :)

are the vw sd cards for the rns 315  compatible with the skoda or do they have to be the exact one?

if so anybody got the correct Skoda part number for it?

im also looking at replacing the antenna unit so part number for that would also be great :D
