Please excuse my computer illiteracy 😂

My car journey started in the 80's and i still can't keep one for more than a year !   Is there a cure ?

Currently drive a 10 year old diesel merc which i've found to be so fragile with electronic faults.  So, i'm rejoining the vw audi group and i'm looking for an octavia.

I'm looking forward to researching the model and sharing my experiences.

Thank you.

Hello YT, welcome to the forum. I remain impressed with the low-down torque of my 1.4TSI.

Still happy to have missed out on the 'update' to the 1.5TSI COD version.

Not totally convinced with SHIMBOs 1.0 TSI 110 either - although it would be the better one to chuck about on a gravel stage. 😁

Thank you W193, it's good to be welcomed here !

Until now, i have mainly driven diesels but have decided to buy a petrol this time. Will miss the clattter, smell and character of the oil burners but petrol will suit my driving as i slip into old age 😜 with shorter journeys.

Is it wise to save for a MK4 ?  The 1.4 TSI has appeal and i haven't discounted the 1L yet.  I like the MK3 shape though and i'm open to a good one from 2015>

I drove a friend's 19 plate Fabia 1L and i was impressed..........but wondered if the three pot would struggle with the weight of an Octavia. I guess i should test drive them all and decide.

Any comments are welcome and i'll keep you posted with progress 👍

Good idea to avoid oil-burners if now doing lower miles. From issues aired by members on this forum, it would seem that there have been a lot of 'teething' problems with the electronics in the Mk4 - I'm sure some owners will be on soon to give better informed advice.
