Should I get a Fab VRS or stick it out for an Ibiza FR???

Featured Replies

Hey guys!

Well yeah this is my first real thread on this forum and the main point of this is the question... Fabia VRS? or Ibiza FR?...........................

Richie

Like the chaps say, test drive both, more than once and as far and as long as you can get away with. I had same choices to make and the vRS won it for me.

Better build, better ride, better seat ergonomics but then I've seen 21 more than a couple of times:rolleyes:

The Ibiza has better handling probably because the stiffer suspension set up stops it rolling about so much but for all round entertainment in a real world car you can't beat the vRS IMHO.

Go for it.

the VRS 06 model is fine. infact better fuel economy and I don't see mine stutter anymore. but obviously I am going to defend my corner.

I think the equipment and revisions are documented in this forum and a search would be good. im sure if you find a review on the polo sport, ibiza and fabia vrs then it will give you a good indication on what the Seat has and what the Skoda has too. There is no option for better quality plastics on the Seat tho and the boy racer pack is compulsary ! ;)

Drive them back to back. I did with a friend who was looking to buy at the around the same time. He picked the Ibiza, I went with the Fabia.

As has been said above - they are basically the same car as regards the chassis and mechanicals. The engines and drivetrain are pretty much the same as any other VAG car with the 130bhp TDI. Why pay 2.5k more for a Polo Sport TDI that's the same basic car? (This could also explain why it was dropped last week - hardly anybody bought one!)

I couldn't live with the ride in the Ibiza - it's crashy and unrefined. The Fabia is a much better compromise for daily use. The Fabia interior is higher quality and better screwed together if a little dull. No bits have fallen off and I'm rattle free after 12 months unlike my mates Ibiza.

I'm surprised on the insurance front - the Ibiza is for some unknown reason a group lower than the vRS. Makes about £20 difference a year for me.

MPG should match/exceed your 1.2. I had a 1.2 Fabia loan car the other week when mine was in for a service - same journey was 65mpg in the vRS and 39mpg on he way back in the 1.2!

cant seem to find the video?

Clicky

Right you crazy lot have convinced me. It will definitely be a Skoda Fabia VRS that I am getting as my next car! :D Happy!? because I bloody am :) haha yeah the stealth beemer eater factor has convinced me. The fact i can insure it pretty easily with such good performance, and keep it sensible in terms of fuel consumption is amazing! Couldn't ask for more really! The whole Skoda image is a bonus, no one would expect a lil hatchback like this to have so much oompf. I cant wait to get one now! I want one with xenons and ESP but looking at an absolute maximum of £10500, anyone with any ideas? Oh and mileage around 15-20k would be a treat :D haha. I really really really really want it already! Sorry Seat, Skoda here I come!!!!!

cheers mate that looks like an absolutely mint example! Where abouts are you located? I am really interested but since it isnt from a dealer I will have to convince the parents to pay for part of it then I pay them back in installments  Gonna get stick for getting mummy and daddy paying for it now haha. But yeah I would love to buy it but it's not certain that I can gather the funds soon enough so all I can advise is that if you can sell it sooner to someone else then do so. However if there are any developments I will get in touch.

Thanks for the help! Getting excited now!

Richie

PS:170bhp!? Dont think the insurance will like that very much, will have to be back to 130bhp i think i'm afraid:(

;) Get it @ 170 bhp then get it turned down yourself afterwards.

Going by the pics, it's the best example vRS I have seen, looks better than new!
