Start-stop error with engine light

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

For a couple of months now I have a problem with my Octavia 2019.

Every time I start the engine after a few hours that it was off (for example all night), it shows a start-stop error, and the engine light blinks. After 20-30 second the engine light goes off. If I drive for a few minutes, turn the engine off, start it, turn it off and start it again, the start-stop error will disappear as well.

When the error started, it only happend once in two-three days. Now it happens every morning. Sometimes the epc light is also shown, but if I turn the engine off and start it again, it will go away.

I took it to service several times. They replaced the car battery, engine plugs, ignition coil, and fixed a water likegae through the the intercooler (hope I got the translation right...). After each time the error was gone for several days, once it was even gone for a month, but it keeps coming back.

I'm a bit lost right now so any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.

You need a mechanic not how you are going to and taking your money and fixing nothing.

?

How many km has your car done?

What engine and gearbox does your car done.

Is it a TDI & glow plugs, or a TSI and spark plugs replaced?  You do say Ignition Coils replaced.

Are they just putting parts on your car as trial to find an error or was it needing spark plugs,  coils

Hi @Rooted,

My car has done approximately 87,000 km.

It's the 1.0 engine. I think TSI. 7-gear robotic gearbox.

Unfortunately I can't really tell what exactly they replaced. Yeah, I think they are clueless too and just try to find something that will work.

Thanks!

Get it checked for code errors.

Garage receipts should detail what was done and replaced

How does the car run when the light is on?

Hi @ords,

I drives just fine, feels nothing wrong.

I have this currently, but car stays in EPC mode at 4k max revs until I restart the car.

Was scanned and came back with a faulty oil pressure switch code, there are 3 total on the car. I have replaced one so far but it hasn't helped, will be replacing the other 2 sometime soon.

I've also read on here that it could be coil packs, low battery etc.

Will be worth getting a VCDS to scan it and see what it throws back.

Good luck!
