Check Oil level

Featured Replies

Purchased a 20 plate 1.5l petrol Kamiq 22nd Dec 22 at 6000miles. Check oil level light came on 20th June 9362miles, took car to garage no signs of leak but they said they topped it up. Tonight its 11908miles and the light has come on again and still no sign of leak. Just seeing if anyone has experienced same/similar or any insight in the mean time. I plan to be at local Skoda garage for them opening tomorrow!

Anyone acquiring a new-to-them vehicle with an internal combustion engine will do well to keep an eye on oil levels by use of the dipstick every few weeks until familiar with rate of oil consumption.

Waiting for a warning light is not optimal.

There was a similar story on another model subforum a couple of days ago. I forget which else I would link to it.

The car gets checked at the start of every month, always seems ok from one month to the next then for Nov it looked like it may have dropped, and yes today light has come on.

@SK2023 Are you checking and topping up the oil as per the Owners Manual and when the engine is at operating temperature and after stopped for a few minutes and sure there is enough oil in like when you collected the car and then after the dealership has topped up the oil.

Are you leaving the Oil & Filter Service intervals to Variable, and 24 months / 18,000 - 20,000 miles ?

The low miles you do might best have the Servicing on Fixed Service Regimes and 9,400 mile / 12 month intervals.

Are you sure it is an oil level light? My Karoq gives a message 'oil level correct' on start up, and the light may be an oil pressure warning. On two of my cars (one present and one sold on) the oil pressure light would come on if the car was parked on an up-slope as the pickup in the sump was towards the frony, so the engine was temporarily starved of oil. Once the light was on it would not go out once the car was on a flat surface, and it was necessary  to stop, allow all the systems to power down for a minute then all was OK. This means that my cars always have to be parked one particular way round on my drive.

Oil pressure warning RED.  Low Oil warning YELLOW.

Open the bonnet, even do nothing and warning go out for 100 km / 62 miles.  Be aware.
