Hi all,

 

After living in London most of my life and driving many different leases / work vans / zipcars etc I am about to move to Suffolk and buy a first home with my wife.

 

This has lead to us looking to purchase a car, and we've landed on a Skoda Superb estate!

I'm really excited to be a car owner finally, and this just seems like the perfect option for us.

 

We will be making regular trips between Suffolk & London, so it need to be ULEZ friendly.

Also we make an annual trip to a small place we have in Croatia, and the hope is to do road trips through Europe with it as well.

 

Currently, after much research, I've landed on the following spec that I'm interested in:

• 2016 / 2017 reg
• deisel 2.0 litre engine, 148 hp
• automatic
• SE trim

 

I've currently got my eye on a few that I've seen on autotrader through a dealer (don't have the confidence to buy from a private individual), with a reasonable mileage (~70K) at a sub 12K price point.

 

As I said, I've never bought a car before, so any tips & advice in general the process in general, as well as things I should be checking the car over for would be really welcome.

@profcalculus Unless you want to be a fashion victim with a bad back, look for one with "small" (17") wheels, because it rides better.

Check the MOT history.

 

Check the Skoda Service history on ERWIN at a Skoda dealership.

 

Number of previous owners and how long any owner has had the car.
