AdBlue top-up

Featured Replies

I don't suppose there's any way to change the AdBlue top-up display from gallons to litres while keeping everything else imperial (ie mph, mpg).

Currently I get "minimum 1 gallon, maximum 1 gallon" which is a bit silly.

What happens if you put in less than 1 gallon? Why is there a minimum anyway?

Because the car needs a minimum amount to register on the ultra sonic sensor.

above the maximum will fill to the very top of the container leaving no airgap and the ultrasonic sensor won’t register any fill.

1 gallon is about 4.5 litres so put in 4.5 litres. But that being said, your car isn’t due for a top up so there’s no need to until you get a warning to top up.

Well that was easy - Settings / Units / Volumes and change to litres.

Consumption still displays as mpg but the AdBlue topup screen is now a much more helpful min: 3.5l / max: 5.25l

Your cars fuel displays in MPG (& MPH)  but you buy fuel priced in litres and not Imperial pints or gallons.  (or even US gallons.).

It is a British thing.  Why now an outcast.

More than arguing about the quantities you should think about the real thing: mine starts to beep when 2500 kms are left. When 0 kms left your car will not move. Or start. I have done 400 kms to left somewhere in Poland with no petrol stations on map. Scary.

I am being practical. I got the low AdBlue warning, which said add minimum 1 gallon maximum 3 gallons. I bought a 20l drum (cheapest by far per litre from Amazon) and added roughly 10 litres.

That's when it said unhelpfully the level was now minimum 1 maximum 1 gallon.

I didn't want a quite large, half-empty drum hanging around for 6 months or so to the next top-up. By changing the display to litres I found I could safely add another 5,  put the remaining 5l or so in a smaller container, and get rid of the drum.

I guess the problem is that it only displays in whole gallons but gives litres to two decimal places, and there are dire warnings about overfilling.

Might be.

Another thing - after toping on, the manual tells to switch the ignition on and wait for a minute or half to get the sytem understand that the adblue has been added. Pretty strange nowadays, when the system knows 2 seconds later if you dated your neighbours wife or not.

I remeber dash told me 11 liters is max to ad, but I did 13 something.
