Coolant Level light

Featured Replies

Hi

My son’s 2015 citigo’s coolant level light came on so he topped it up.  After driving 16 miles home and leaving it overnight, it has come on again.  Checked bottle and level is down.  No obvious leaks from pipes (feel dry).  Any other possible conclusions?  I’m seeing water pump crop up.  Any simple tests to carry out to help determine (other than taking it in?).  Thanks

The only way will be to establish where the coolant leak is - check the ground carefully beneath the engine and all around it when it has been stopped for a while after a run.

Difficult in wet weather if the vehicle isn't garaged.

Are there any signs of overheating before the coolant level light comes on?

Hi, no current over heating issues although only been driven a short time 30min or so.  The light came on immediately upon start up due to low level.  I’ve topped up again and will check in the morning but as you say, it is difficult with the weather.  See some dampness near inside front of bumper so might be coming more from the front end rather than rear?

Just been out to check.  Front end damp on the floor in almost a long line.  Radiator?

If the Citigo's coolant is not currently a bright colour, you could try a tracer dye to help spot the leak. Check the area around the bottom of the radiator very closely.

Very likely that or bottom hose/connections.
