2020 Octavia battery charging

Featured Replies

Having recently bought a 1.5TSI, it has MANY things which draw power when the car is garaged. I have several classic cars that are used even less - each one has a "smart" charger, which keeps the battery topped up.

The Octavia 12volt outlet in the boot is "live all the time". Is there any reason I should not use it to connect a smart charger, without causing a reaction? On "standby" the smart charger maintains a 0.5amp  input, with up to 4 amps charge if the battery is down. The Skoda is the only car with an ECU.

i have charged my superb with the socket in the boot no problems.

Thanks for that! The "boot" 12V outlet is proving useful. As well as accepting a cigarette lighter/usb plug, it will keep the LED worklight/torch I've found, topped up (the unit has a solar panel too)  AND a smart charger input whilst the car is used less in the Winter and sits in the garage.
