SKODA OCTAVIA S TDI CR 1.6 L Clutch Pedal Squeak

Featured Replies

Morning,

I own a SKODA OCTAVIA S TDI CR 1.6 L

Had this issue briefly last winter (occasionally) an annoying squeak from the clutch pedal. Initially I thought it was the rubber non slip pad on the pedal (figured if its cold and damp it might cause a squeak) didn't do it when it was warm or after the inside of the car had warmed up.

Now it is back again this winter... with vengeance. I usually just crank the radio up, job done. But with my son in the car I don't tend to have the radio on. So with my son moaning and the clutch pedal squeaking when in traffic it can be somewhat testing.

On the way to work today it was bad. I stopped at a screwfix that I passed and got some white grease spray and gave the pedal components some spraying. Doesn't appear to have done it though.... possible worse. thinking of trying some actual grease on the clutch pedal piston?

Just wondered if this is ok? the white grease spray is quite easy to just wipe off and clean up with a cloth. Once I start messing with actual grease its harder to undo

Thanks

I might suggest this sounds like the linkage between the clutch pedal and the master cylinder.  Its also indicative of a potential problem with the hydraulic system.  How do the brakes feel?

Its possible that fluid is bypassing the master cylinder seal.  Suggest getting it looked at by your dealer or VAG workshop.

It is the control loading spring and plunger, spray grease will stop the noise

Managed to solve it. Got a small paint brush and painted a load of general purpose grease on the mechanism. Took a little while to work it's way in but it's back to normal now
