Skoda Superb Mk II 1.6 TDI cuts out after start

Featured Replies

Hello everybody,

I seem to have an uncommon problem as I haven't found any threads on it in the forum.

So I have a 2013 Skoda Superb Mk II with the 1.6 TDI engine and a 5spd manual. The problem is that the car cuts out immediately after start showing "start engine manually" on the dashboard. Then, the engine turns, but won't start for some time, it could take anything between 5-15 mins. And then it starts again, like nothing ever happened, no dash lights nor error codes. This happens in most unexpected times as it could go without doing the "thing" where it doesn't start for a week or two, but sometimes the issue could appear even twice a day.

It's really got on my nerves lately because none of my local mechanics were able to identify the issue. Any advices would be highly appreciated.

I'm sincerely sorry if my text is disjointed so please ask if any there's any fog left.

Thanks in advance,

Matas

Please note that the car would never stall while driving and in cases, where engine started up regularly.

Is the car equipped with Start-Stop system?

Yes, the car is equipped with the start-stop system.

So it looks to me like some problem with start-stop system. It can also be caused by problems with battery, voltage or temperature sensor. Have you made any diagnostics via OBD?

I’ve also thought about that. I did the diagnostics but sadly it came in with 0 codes. Do you think deactivating the start stop system via OBD could be helpful? Thanks

If you manage it then I think yes, it should help

Not sure if this is of any help-

And in terms of scanning for faults, has it been scanned with a tool that can interrogate all the control modules e.g. VCDS or a basic OBD scanner?
