Fabia Oil Loss

Featured Replies

The Fabia manual indicates that the engine can 'drink' (probably the best word for it) up to half a litre of oil for every 600 miles it does.

 I'm assuming that this is a very high figure but does anyone know what is 'normal'?

And, I can't find any indication of the oil quantity represented by the thatched area on the dipstick.

 Does any one know how much oil is represented by the thatched area (that is, if it's one quarter down, is that half a litre needed or what?)?

Thats nothing, the manual for my CTR says that upto 1 litre per 600 miles is considered normal! Luckily mine only uses about 1 litre per 10k miles.

Don't know what normal for the fabia though, still got 10 weeks to wait for mine :o

the manual for the Mazda RX8 says check and top up every second fuel tank fill up iirc , oil is injected into the combustion chamber to lubricate the rotor tips , this car uses a large amount of oil

The manual for my CTR does actually say to check the oil every time you fill with petrol, i just check mine every week or 2.

1 litre fills the car from the bottom of the hatched area to the top on the dipstick.

1 litre per 600 miles (approx 1000km) is permissable.

engines will also use more oil when new. You should find oil usage drops as the engines wears in.

I used over a litre & a half below 2000miles then nothing since
