Passenger footwell light not working. It’s not the bulb. Any ideas?

Featured Replies

Hi all. Bought a lovely high mileage Superb MKII and currently working through all the minor electrical problems that have been neglected over its life.

first one is the passenger footwell light. All 3 of them work apart from this one. I’ve tried 5 or 6 bulbs and none work on this light. Very odd.

does the passenger footwell light have its own fuse somewhere? All the manuals and diagrams I’ve seen suggest no. If that’s the case, is the wiring faulty then perhaps?

There's a diode installed in these lights, looks like a small cylinder with bare wire leads out of each end cap which is installed in parallel (from recollection) with the bulb.  Passenger footwell light has stopped working intermittently in the past a couple of times and changing diode fixed it.  Diodes are few pence each. Will sort details when back to laptop.

thanks for this, after some extensive fiddling no amount of bulbs would work but when I swapped the driver footwell to the passenger it worked no issues. So you are most certainly correct. I’ve already ordered the new part though. Only cost £6 plus I already damaged the existing shield!

thanks again for your help
