Manual box gearbox oil change

Featured Replies

Hi

Skoda superb 2018 2 litre 190 diesel with 6 speed manual.

I am trying to change the gearbox oil and cannot find the fill plug only the drain plug.

My question is does it have one?

I found a YT vid for 2016 passat same engine that has a fill plug but on my box casting there is just a flat with no hole in the place where the passat has one...

Haynes skoda superb manual is useless just has a generic instruction but it does mention some vehicles are filled from a breather valve hole on top of the box

Does anyone have any experience - tips?

oh and please dont say its filled for life - I am an engineer and dont believe in fill for life advice, plus i am planning to keep the car for many years

Thanks in advance..

simon

Welcome.

You need to find out your gearbox code as that'll then give some pointers :)

Looking at the workshop manuals I've got:

- some have filler holes

- some go via the reverse light switch

- some have a special filler hole which require an adaptor

Hi @simonpa,

Maybe you can find the answer on cardiagn.com, where you can download workshop manuals for free. ;)

Just searching for something similar a few days ago:

In the karoq section of this forum theres a gearbox manual that also covers some other models- same gearboxes used- including various diesel engined Superbs 2015-

The details are in there for filling with a special tool , or via a funnel/ tube through an alternative route- after removing specific bolt/ fittings along with the volumes required.
(p.s. a manual covering some recent Superb engines, including likes of recent DSRA /B motors are in the Kodiac section.)

Can't help with fill and drain on your engine, they are pretty easy to spot on my 6 speed manual (1.4tsi), but you're absolutely right it is well worth changing. I did mine a couple of years ago and it came out in pretty poor shape. Can't say I noticed much difference in quietness or shifting but it was good to know that it was back up to spec.

Hello there!

I ran into the same problem, have you found where the fillhole plug is?

Thanks all for replying especially the guy who put the link to the workshop manual.

It’s finally done, I filled the oil after removing this plug- see pic. Fitted a new plug also new copper washer on drain plug for peace of mind and happy days!😀👍
