Planning to buy Skoda Octavia

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I am replacing my 7-year Ford Focus 1.6 ZETEC. I am looking for a family car( kids aged 6 and 3). My annual mileage is around 6k, mostly on city roads and occasional long drives.

As my mileage is lower, I am inclined towards petrol cars. Initially, I have started looking at the Skoda Octavia 1.4TSI, Volkswagen Passat, and Mazda M6.

I found a 2011 Skoda Octavia 1.4 TSI with 78k miles for £3500( 3 owners, including the current owner) from a dealer. He said he would offer a 1-month warranty. I didn't find this dealer information online.

Is it common for some of the dealers to offer only a 1-month warranty?

It has a part-service history (6 stamps until 2018). The timing belt changed in 2018 at 62k miles, the owner changed in 2019, and there is no evidence of service history from 2019 onwards.

Any suggestions on what the reasonable price of this model is with a mileage of 78k? The auto trader valuation comes in at £2500.

I am planning to go for a viewing tomorrow morning. Is there anything specific I need to look at in the car?

Thanks!
