Traffic Announcement Hell

Featured Replies

Argh, how do you turn the TP thing off the symphony CD player - some great tunes have been ruined by the bloody traffic updates. It's driving me mad. I've pressed loads of buttons & combos - but can't turn it off. Please help!

TIA,

D

Use the radio button to toggle it off properly, then select your CD option and it will remain off :)

So do you keep pressing the radio button until TP comes off? Thanks! D     :o:thumbup:

Read the Manual ? :D

FM1/2 toggles between the banks of FM presets.

If it has a large FM in the left corner, it will be off. If it has a large TP in the corner, it is on.

The smal TP will stay top left, which is both confusing and annoying...

As hewsey said, the A/F button toggles between FM1 and FM2. On these two channels you don't get interrupted by traffic announcements (TA). You may notice a little TP in the top left. This means that TAs are available on that radio station.

When you press the TP button (while listening to the radio) the display changes from FM1 (or FM2) to TP and you will then get interrupted by TA.

If you were on TP and you go to play a CD (by inserting or pressing CD) then you'll still get interrupted by TA. To stop that happening, press the A/F button to turn to FM1 or FM2 before doing anything with the CD.

I apologise in advance if any of this is wrong, but I can't check it for a few hours as I cycled to work today (and now it's raining :( )

Cool, those explanations really help. I think I understand now.

Thanks very much for the help.

ps: my handbooks is buried in the "secret" compartment of my glove box below a mountain of cds. Handy to stash stuff in - but a pain to get to if your a messy boy like me!

Just to add a few more to it - if you tap the TP button it will resume radio/CD but leave TA enabled if you had it on.

Must admit most other car stereos I've had had a TA button that toggled the TA on/off, regardless of what you were listening to. Dunno why this one is different, but once you get used to it it's fine :)

Just leave the radio tuned to MW!

MW - hmm yeah if I wanted bad quality reception I would ;)
