According to willtheyfit.the wheel ìs 10mm closer to the strut. Will this be a problem  ?

Those charts are wrong because the widest part of a wheel isn't the rim, it's the inflated tyre.

Actual width of inflated tyre

225/40R18 fitted to 7.5J rim 224mm

235/40R18 fitted to 8J rim 235mm

So if you fit a tyre that has an actual inflated width of 235mm instead of 224mm, it will be 5.5mm closer to the strut assuming the offset is the same. If the offset is 3mm further out it will be 2.5mm closer to the strut.

What is the full specification of the Audi rims you are looking at?

The full specification looks something like this: 8Jx18 ET43 5/112 57.1

There was a big change in the hub centre bore when the Audi A4 B8 came out in 2008...the hub centre bore changed from 57.1mm to 66.6mm

So if the rims are from one of these later Audi A4 cars the hub centre bore will be too big.

Can't see the bore diameter though.

How important is the bore size ? Does it make much difference if its bigger as you hint at ? Can I add a spacer ?

Thanks for your reply

If the centre bore is too big, eg. 66.6mm instead of 57.1mm you would have to use spigot rings.

Spigot rings are different from spacers, as shown in the photo below. If you don't use spigot rings with a rim that has a hub centre bore that is too big, you could get wheel vibration because the rim might not be centred on the hub.

I don't like spigot rings so would never use rims with the wrong hub centre bore.
